Land Rover LRX.

                                              Land Rover LRX.
The Range Rover Evoque is a compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) produced by the British manufacturer Land Rover part of Tata's Jaguar Land Rover group.Land Rover sold nearly 88,000 units of the Evoque in its first year of production.

The manufacturer's fuel economy estimates for the 2.2-litre diesel engine with manual transmission are 47.1 miles per imperial gallon urban and 56.5 miles per imperial gallon combined with CO2 emissions of 133g/km.
For the 2.0-litre petrol engine with automatic transmission the figures are 23.7 miles per imperial gallon urban and 32.5 miles per imperial gallon combined with 199 g/km CO2.
An Inside the LRX is a bit more of a reach. The two-plus-two seats are cantilevered from the tunnel to leave space for storage underneath them. The seats also fold in an unusual articulating fashion to provide access to the rear and to stow the rear seats for storage.

The driver views a dashboard with an LCD screen to display the instruments. The screen is placed behind sheets of etched glass to make the display three-dimensional. An Apple iPhone plugs into the central console to control the entertainment and informational functions. An available 17-speaker, 825-Watt Meridian audio system highlights the list of available tech goodies. Surround Camera System, hard drive-based navigation, rear seat entertainment, blind spot monitoring and keyless access make their way down from other Land Rovers.

The electrical drive system uses power stored in a dedicated high-voltage, high-capacity, lithium-ion battery pack, independent of the normal 12-volt battery. This is charged by a regenerative braking energy system, also working through the ERAD.

The exposed structures of the seats, roof and instrument panel are just one novel approach that Land Rover's designers have taken to reduce vehicle weight. Another example is replacing the glass for the side windows and roof with polycarbonate from SABIC Innovative Plastics, which is around 40% lighter. The polycarbonate also blocks virtually all UV light (protecting interior materials from fading), while special nano-technology within the material reduces infra-red transmission, helping to keep the interior cool.
