Porsche Carrera GT
Porsche-Carrera-GT : The Porsche Carrera GT is a Hot Wheels casting based on the production vehicle of the same name. While the die-cast model debuted in the 2006 First Editions, the full size production vehicle was first revealed as a concept at the 2001 Paris Auto Salon. The vehicle was extremely well received, and was given a green light for production. The production version of the Porsche Carrera GT debuted at the 2003 Geneva Auto Show. The production version retained the same stunning lines as the concept vehicle, and was motivated by a racebred V-10 engine producing over 600 hp. This combined with a relatively low weight propelled the Porsche Carrera GT from 0 to 60 mph in well under 4 seconds. Porsche produced approximately 1300 of the Carrera GT during its four year production run.
The Hot Wheels version first debuted in Silver with both Open Hole 5 Spokes and Faster Than Ever wheels. The silver First Edition was quickly followed by a yellow repaint with Open Hole 5 Spokes. The casting was part of the Hot Wheels Exotics 5-Pack in 2007, before returning to the Hot Wheels mainline as part of the 2008 Team Exotics. Unlike the full scale model, the Hot Wheels version of the Porsche Carrera GT has been relatively easy to find, and relatively inexpensive, allowing collectors the chance to own one of Porsche's highest performing and most exclusive models.
