2013 Suzuki Boulevard M50.
2013 Suzuki Boulevard M50.
The 2013 Boulevard M50 has a starting MSRP of $8,799, right in line with expectations for a member of the 800cc class of 2013 cruiser motorcycles (the average price is $8,799). A 12-month factory warranty from Suzuki helps protect new buyers.
The 2013 Suzuki Boulevard M50 is powered by an advanced fuel-injected 805cc V-twin engine which delivers sharp acceleration. The engine is mated on a five speed transmission which is paired with an advanced clutch (the same used for the sporty Hayabusa). The engine is not only strong, is also pretty fuel efficient due to Suzuki’s Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) fuel-injection system, which also offers crisp throttle response and optimized power delivery.
The analog speedo has a big face and is highly visible. The top gauge also includes a small digital fuel gauge while a neutral indicator, turn signals, and high beam indicator reside in a console on the tank a bit below the line of sight. Lighting consists of bullet-style turn signals front and back while we noticed the red triangular LED taillight is highly visible when trailing the bike. While its headlight is on automatically after the bike is started, it switches off when you fire up the bike to reduce the load on the battery.
The Boulevard M50 is 94.3 inches long and 35 inches wide. The wheelbase comes in at 65.2 inches, a normal figure in this segment. A seat height of 27.6 inches is 3.30 inches lower than the average motorcycle, making this more accessible to shorter riders.
For all the Boulevard models, cruiser comfort is delivered in spades. Relaxed cockpits and wide, comfortable seats give both driver and passenger plenty of room to stretch out, and front and rear footpegs are standard. Soaking up the bumps on the base Boulevard model are front telescoping forks with 5.5 inches of travel and a rear, twin-sided swing arm supported by a shock with 4.1 inches of travel. Stopping is handled by a single hydraulic disc brake up front, and a drum brake in the rear.
The 2013 Suzuki Boulevard is a version of a classic that has withstood the test of time and still stands strong. Riders looking for a traditionally-styled cruiser that promises to provide years of trouble-free riding while still remaining timeless do not need to look any further.
