The Aprilia RSV 1000 R is a sport bike motorcycle made by Aprilia . Along with the bike's redesign Aprilia renamed the RSV from RSV Mille to RSV 1000 R. It is offered in three versions: RSV 1000 R (while the "R" designation on the RSV Mille signified the higher spec version) is the standard version, the higher spec version is the RSV 1000 R Factory and Aprilia made a limited edition version called RSV 1000 R Nera.
The 2004 RSV has everything you could want in an Italian sportbike: It is a beautiful bike, especially in red and silver. The revised plastics are more angular than the first generation machine with distinctive canards on the upper fairing that acted as wind deflectors. A trailblazer in its design, the Aprilia was one of the first streetbikes to integrate its turn signals into the mirrors and the tail section, eliminating the need for aftermarket pieces to clean up the looks of the bike. The bike's looks still hold up today and during my ownership I was constantly praised for its beauty. Luckily the bike was more than a pretty face.
For 2004, Aprilia uses the same 43mm Showa inverted fork and Sachs shock on the less expensive Mille-a decent enough suspension. But even working through a new rear linkage, the Sachs damper proves to be much more harsh than the Factory's Ohlins unit. The Swedish fork is also superb, sucking up small pavement imperfections that caused the R version's tires to patter, slightly upsetting stability. Also, small adjustments on the Ohlins dampers make a large difference, more so than typical standard suspension.
2004 Aprilia RSV 1000 R, Super clean great running bike. Needs nothing. - The RSV 1000 has amazed the world ever since it was introduced. It has built up an incredible record in comparative tests and is conclusively accepted as the fastest production twin cylinder motorcycle on the track. But at Aprilia even the best gets better and, five years after its introduction, with over 138 horsepower at the crank and a top speed of over 280 Km/hour, the new RSV 1000 R has knocked another second off average circuit times during testing! This extra speed and power demonstrates even more clearly the RSV’s incredible handling and exceptional racing efficiency too. Unbeatable riding satisfaction is guaranteed under even the most extreme conditions.
The competition comes and goes, but the Aprilia RSV 1000 R remains the world’s best supersport on road and track alike. This is the bike the others can only hope to match. The RSV 1000 R has clearly demonstrated its true colours in the World Endurance Championship, where it has been the only production twin to achieve amazing results among so many four cylinder machines. In legendary races like the Suzuka 8 hours and massacring endurance trials like the Oschersleben 24 hours, the RSV 1000 R has proved to the world that it can out-perform the best and still remain totally reliable.
