2014 Audi S8 details

2014 Audi S8

The Audi S8 is as much glitz as Grand Prix. It not only exudes style, it pulses with a 4.0-liter TFSI V8 producing an astonishing 520 hp and 481 lb-ft of torque. This is an exclusive experience for those who understand that performance and power can and should be part of a truly refined driving experience.

There's no mistaking the distinctive LED strip underneath the headlights of any new Audi model, and the A8 is no exception. Both the A8 and S8 feature Audi's signature albeit oversized trapezoidal grille, which occupies the majority of front-end real estate. The performance-oriented S8 is differentiated by twin-tip exhaust outlets and a bright silver-finished rear diffuser, front lip spoiler and mirrors. To reduce emissions and nitrous oxide levels.

As for the powertrain lineup, the 3.0-liter V-6 TFSI now rates at 310 horsepower while the 4.0-liter V-8 TFSI rates at 435 horsepower. The 6.3-liter W-12 still makes do with 500 horsepower. Also unchanged is the output of the S8’s 4.0-liter V-8, which remains at 520 horsepower.
With a striking profile and an elite attention to detail, the Audi S8 delivers purposeful design and refinement. Fitted with S model exclusive quad oval exhaust pipes, it can't help but announce and amplify its V8 engine's growl. Inside, you are enveloped in finely crafted wood inlays, rich leather seating surfaces, and ideally placed controls. This is the culmination of style and substance.

All S8 models come standard with dual front, front knee, front side, rear side and full-length side curtain airbags in addition to traction and stability control systems.
Optional safety features include active lane assist, which warns the driver when the S8 is wandering into an adjacent lane and can even gently steer the car back into the original lane. There's also Audi pre sense, which can detect obstacles in front of the S8 and apply the brakes to prevent a crash or mitigate its severity. Finally, Audi side assist alerts the driver when a vehicle is in one of the S8 rear blind spots.

Audi will offer optional headlights with Matrix LED technology, wherein the high beam has 25 individual light-emitting diodes per unit that can be switched on and off or dimmed individually depending on the situation. The headlamps also have intelligent cornering, new-look daytime running lights and dynamic turn signals. The rear LED lamps are flatter.

The Audi S8 costs $110,000 before options. There’s less scope to spend big money as the options are all very well priced. Changing to different 21-inch wheels is just $250, for example.
