2013 Cadillac ATS.

                                           2013 Cadillac ATS.

The Cadillac ATS is a four-door, five-passenger compact luxury sedan designed, engineered, manufactured and marketed by General Motors. General Motors developed the ATS at the General Motors Technical Center in Warren, Michigan, United States.

the 2013 ATS features a front-engine, rear-drive layout, four-wheel independent suspension, the latest ZF electric power steering, and four-wheel disc brakes. Motivation comes from a choice of three engines with an available manual transmission and optional all-wheel drive. It’s all wrapped in modern and attractive sheetmetal styled with a softer take on Cadillac’s Art and Science design philosophy. The whole shebang is 8.5 inches shorter than the CTS.
The front end features head lights that extend into the front fenders, a short front overhang, and long hood with a ‘power bulge’. The side profile features chrome running along the windows and a set of seventeen-inch wheels. Around back, the ATS copies certain parts of the CTS’ rear end, most notably with the vertical LED taillights and trunk lid design. There is also a wide, center brake light mounted in the spoiler, and twin, large exhaust ports mounted in the rear bumper.

The ATS is based upon General Motors' Alpha platform and is offered in either rear- or all-wheel drive configurations. The ATS base engine is a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter I-4 gasoline engine that produces 202 horsepower. Optional engines include a 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 gasoline engine that produces 272 horsepower  and a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engine that produces 321 horsepower.A diesel engine will be available in the future.

Though the additional hardware shifts the ATS4's weight balance forward (it's at 53/47 percent versus a near-perfect 51/49 percent), it's not felt on the road. The chassis remains eager, the steering stays linear and responsive and the 3.6-liter V-6 (which retains its output of 321 hp and 275 lb-ft) provides ample thrust with a pleasant exhaust thrum.
This ATS 4, however, bit into the snow-covered road with confidence and stability. Later on dry roads with the car set to Sport mode, the ATS 4 planted its wheels into the ground and carved its way around curves with the feel and grip you’d usually get from a sports car and absolutely no body roll you’d get from a typical Caddy. The amount of power this car lays down is also impressive.

The ATS is designed to run with the best the entry-level luxury sedan segment has to offer, including the Infiniti G25 and G37, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4, Volvo S60 and, of course, the benchmark BMW 3-Series.
