2013 Suzuki V-Strom 650 ABS.

                             2013 Suzuki V-Strom 650 ABS.

Last year, Suzuki introduced the redesigned V-Strom 650 ABS that focused on more than comfort. It enhanced the running performance and in-town versatility of the popular V-Strom brand.
Redesigned, liquid-cooled, dohc 90-degree V-twin engine now displaces 1037cc and makes a claimed 99 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 76 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm, gains of 2.5 hp and 1.5 lb.-ft.
The V-Strom 650 ABS has a high-mounted stainless steel exhaust system with aluminum muffler that is tuned to enhance engine torque and low-to-midrange performance.

The V-Strom 650 ABS’s user-friendly chassis is built around a lightweight and rigid twin-spar aluminum-alloy frame and swingarm for a comfortable package with great performance. It’s perfect for adventure touring rides with an upright riding position, long-stroke front and rear suspension, lightweight aluminum-alloy wheels and standard equipment Antilock Brake System (ABS).
Talking about suspensions the V-Strom 650 ABS features 5-way spring-preload-adjustable 43mm-telescopic front forks with 5.9 inches of travel and a link-type rear suspension with 6.3 inches of travel, stepless rebound damping adjuster and 5-way spring preload adjuster.

The Suzuki has the most useful instrument cluster as its dials are up higher and easier to read at speed, a digital speedo on the right with a gear indicator in the left-hand corner of the display, a large analog tach sitting to the left and other rider-friendly features like the knob to dial in preload on the rear.

Instrumentation includes an analog tachometer and brightness-adjustable LCD speedometer. LCD readouts include odometer, dual trip meter, gear position, coolant and ambient temperature, average fuel consumption, fuel gauge and clock. Switching between LCD readings can be done with the left handlebar switch.
LED indicators include a road freeze warning indicator, which, together with the ambient temperature display, helps riders’ awareness of road conditions.

New twin-spar aluminum frame is stiffer torsionally and 13 percent lighter than that of previous model. Kayaba inverted 43mm fork and shock are fully adjustable. Axles are 5mm (front) and 8mm (rear) larger in diameter. Claimed curb weight is 502 pounds, 18 less than previous model. Wheel sizes remain 19-inch (front) and 17-inch (rear) and wheels are forged aluminum.

The 2013 Suzuki V-Strom 650 ABS is available in the following color options: Pearl Glacier White and Pearl Vigor Blue at an U.S. MSRP of $8,499. A separate, accessorized model, known as the V-Strom 650 ABS Adventure, is also available at a U.S. MSRP at $9,999 (featuring saddlebags, for instance).
