Saab 9-3 Griffin.

                                             Saab 9-3 Griffin.

The Saab 9-3 is a compact executive car produced by the Swedish automaker Saab. The 9-3 was originally based on the GM Epsilon platform along with the Opel Vectra and Cadillac BLS which were made on the same assembly line in Sweden until 2009. Though the current model of 9-3 is still based off of the GM platform Saab's current owners National Electric Vehicle Sweden are perfecting the Phoenix platform to debut for the 2015 model year. The 9-3 is currently Saab's only model offered as a saloon and will available in three different body styles saloon estate and convertible.

The 2012 Saab 9-3 is available in three body styles sedan convertible and a wagon known as the SportCombi. The base Turbo4 trim is offered on all body styles while the Aero trim is offered on the sedan and convertibles. The convertible is also available in Independence trim. The SportCombi wagon is offered in Turbo4 and 9-3X trim.Front-wheel drive is standard on all but both sedan models can be equipped with AWD.

The base Turbo4 sedan comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels front foglamps, a rear foglamp, heated mirrors, automatic wipers, headlamp, washers, keyless entry, cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, an eight-way power driver seat with lumbar adjustment, leather upholstery, heated front seats, a cooled glovebox, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and a seven-speaker sound system with a CD player with satellite radio and an auxiliary audio jack. The Comfort package available on all Turbo4 trim levels adds an eight-way power passenger seat, a universal garage door opener, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
Saab has replaced the 9-3’s 2.0-liter turbo four with the 2.0 turbo from the 9-5. It produces 220 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, up from 210 hp and 221 lb-ft in last year’s 9-3. Front-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission will once again be standard, with six-speed automatics available for all models and all-wheel drive optional on sedans. The all-wheel-drive-only 9-3X wagon gets the same mechanical changes.
The latest Griffin arrives with a 2200 HP engine which promises better fuel efficiency and much reduced emissions. Thus, the car has an overall fuel efficiency improvement of 4% and 4% reduction in CO2 emissions. That happens also because of the use of direct-injection and variable vale timing techniques. The 4-cylinder engine comes with a 2.0 L capacity and is turbocharged. The 258 lb-ft of torque which it produces takes the car from 0 to 100 km/h in about 6.5 seconds, offering it a top speed which has been electronically limited to 250 km/h. The company offers both petrol and diesel variants of the engine.
More engine options will also find their way into the 9-3 Griffin, alongside the usual mix of 1.9-liter TTiD twin turbo diesel engines producing either 130, 160, 180hp. These new engines will come in 2.0L petrol flavors with 163hp or 220hp.
