2013 Suzuki Burgman 400 ABS details

2013 Suzuki Burgman 400 ABS

The Burgman 400 ABS is striking in style and flowing with comfort. Powered by a 400cc liquid-cooled engine, the Burgman 400 ABS is a blast to ride around town. With plush suspension, stepped seating, and an adjustable backrest, each ride is as comfortable as the last. Whether you’re transporting lunch to the country-side or picking up some groceries, the huge underseat compartment has got you covered. Each scooter utilizes Suzuki's advanced fuel injection system to ensure a crisp throttle response. Simply put, the Burgman 400 ABS is the ultimate scooter for style and performance.

The 2013 Suzuki Burgman 400 ABS’s motive force comes from a 400cc four-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 2-valve, single-cylinder with electronic fuel injection.  Power is delivered to the rear wheel through Suzuki’s Electronically Controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (SECVT automatic) via a final gear drive, that at first glance appears to be a shaft drive assembly. The 3.8-gallon fuel tank allows for a satisfying reach that consistently measures in the range of 150 miles.

The best bit about this whole scooter experience is the fuel economy. While that 400cc engine has to work extra hard at the top end it just sips gas at anything under 50mph. That’s a good thing as this scooter is equipped with a 3.6-gallon tank which on a mid-size motorcycle would mean you’d be lucky to get a 150 mile range. However, with the Burgman, we were seeing a consistent 50-60mpg just running around town. So potentially you’re looking at a 200 plus miles between fill ups.

The motorcycle type chassis and running gear includes telescopic front forks with twin discs plus a single disc brake on the rear. Enhancing the motorcycle handling is a substantial 150/70 by 13” section rear tyre along with a 120/80 by 14” on the front. Preload adjustable monoshock rear suspension assists both straight line and cornering stability. The luxury specification includes a huge underseat storage compartment, full weather protection including knuckle guards and heated grips, ABS as standard, passenger backrest and full instrumentation.

The seat is huge and can easily take two people. A nice feature is the rider’s adjustable back support, which moves backwards and forwards across five points so you can find the ideal riding position. You passenger is not going to have many complaints either. There’s an excellent, well-padded rear seat, good grab rails and well-positioned boards for them to put their feet on.

For added security, the ignition switch fitted with a magnetic cover that opens only with correctly coded key.
A huge storage bay large enough for two full-face helmets, and a smaller compartment for personal items. A convenient switchable light is also included to illuminate the underseat area.
Antilock Brake System (ABS) monitors wheel speed, and matches stopping power to available traction.
