2014 Kawasaki Ninja 650 ABS details

2014 Kawasaki Ninja 650 ABS

The Kawasaki Ninja 650 ABS is one of those rare sportbikes that wears a lot of hats. It encapsulates the passion and performance of an elite modern sportbike while also delivering the efficiency and value of an urban commuter. Equipped with high-performance hardware such as powerful and predictable ABS brakes and grippy Dunlop Roadsmart II tires, it definitely has the skills to compete with any sportbike on the road.

Both the handlebar and saddle are rubber-mounted, along with the footpegs, vibration-free comfort. And while enjoying all that ergonomic goodness, you’ll gaze upon an instrument panel featuring an analog tachometer situated above an LCD info-center that displays speed, fuel consumption, remaining range, trip meters, etc., plus a swath of info-lights to the right.

Aluminium twin-tube frame design features frame beams that go over engine, allowing a narrow construction that is easy to grip with the knees. Lightweight and highly rigid, the frame uses the engine as a stressed member.

Its engine type 649cc twin-cylinder with a semi-dry sump can generate power of 72 hp at 8,500 rpm and peak torque is 65 Nm at 7,000 rpm. With technology DFI (Digital Fuel Injection), fuel consumption Ninja 650r is able to work more efficiently. Still using the old chassis, the Ninja is composed of frame design twin – pipe perimeter. Quality materials and strong also as raw material for the chassis, high-tensile steel.

A road ride offers no nasty surprises from the 650. The parallel twin engine is gutsy rather than mind altering, put-putting at tickover before a linear sprint to the redline no dips, no surges, just keen, controllable power. With a light, cable clutch and slick six-speeder eager for a flick of a boot, momentum is more measured than manic.

The Ninja 650 ABS is 83.1 inches long and 30.3 inches wide. The wheelbase measures in at 55.5 inches, a normal figure in this segment. A seat height of 31.7 inches is only 1.20 inches higher than the average motorcycle's, making it manageable for riders of most heights

The ABS-backed brakes feel a touch soft for the first part of the lever travel, but then come onboard and haul the bike up well, the two-pot Tokico calipers upholding the parts-bin special feel of certain components around the bike.

The 2014 Ninja 650 ABS starts at $7,999, which is a reasonable price to pay for a member of the 650cc class of sport bikes (the average price is $8,499). A 12-month factory warranty from Kawasaki helps protect new buyers.
