BMW K1200S.
BMW K1200S.
BMW globally launched a radically redesigned K Series motorcycle. The K1200S containing an all new in-line four-cylinder liquid-cooled engine featuring 123 kW The K1200S was primarily designed as a Super Sport motorcycle. In the years after the launch of K1200S BMW has also launched the K1200R naked roadster and the K1200GT sport tourer. All three new K-series motorcycles are based on the new in-line four-cylinder engine with slightly varying degrees of power.
The adjustable footrest system is interesting for all K1200S riders. For rider or pillon rider you can choose the Vario Plate using different Adapters and you can choose from different footpegs. This makes sure a better sitting posture and more chassis clearance. Safer parking on dirt or asphalt with side stand enlargement, made of aluminium.permanent installed Side stand foot enlargement gives more than 100% bigger contact area.
A slight turn of the throttle and the 123 kW (167 bhp) of the new 4-cyclinder engine catapults the BMW K 1200 S to the front of the pack. With a torque of 130 Nm it does the 0 - 100 km/h sprint in 2.8 seconds. The transverse installed power-plant offers everything a sports rider could wish for. The cylinder bank is tilted forward by 55°, . A low centre of gravity, supreme banking freedom and outstanding ergonomics mean that this bike’s hot performance figures are very cool on the road. Performance is supported by chassis which is unique in serial production motorcycle design, with the BMW Motorrad Duolever at the front and BMW Motorrad Paralever at the rear. The engine's power turns to precision in the newly designed 6-speed gearbox which works almost silently, with very short shift distances.
At really slow speeds the K1200S does feel a bit heavy. After all it scales in at 565 lbs with its 5.0-gallon fuel tank topped off. And with a wheelbase that's 61.9 inches long the S has over a half a foot on its sportier more nimble competition.
