Lotus Exige S 2013.

                                          Lotus Exige S 2013.

2013 Lotus Exige S Roadster is a car that has been introduced a few week before the Geneva Motor Show 2013.The Exige S is an engineer’s car, seemingly conceived for the purest of intents, to go fast and to entertain wildly while doing it.It’s the first time an Exige model has been offered with a factory-fitted soft top roof, one which is typically lightweight and easy to put up and take down. In true Lotus fashion the finely tuned suspension delivers a responsive ride and sublimely agile handling, whilst the supercharged 3.5 V6 engine with race-derived technologies delivers stunning performance.  Reaching 100 kph from standing in 4 seconds (0 – 60 mph in 3.8 seconds) and 0 – 160 kph (0 – 100 mph) in 8.5 seconds this little roadster packs a punch both on and off the track.

Two transmission options will be available for the Exige S Roadster: a 6-speed manual or Lotus' Serial Precision Shift (SPS), a 6-speed paddle-shift automatic. Similarly, two suspension settings will also be offered: Standard and Race. The former setting is used for normal street operation, while the latter maximizes the performance of the sub-2425 lb. sports car for track duty. Race mode allows use of the car's launch control system, a handy aid for getting the featherweight Lotus off the line.

The Exige S features high performance Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tyres as standard with a Lotus DPM (Dynamic Performance Management) switch that allows the driver to switch between three driving modes: Touring, Sport and DPM off.An additional Race Pack option is available offering a fourth driving mode providing maximum possible traction out of corners, an optimised track suspension setting and Launch Control.

The spare interior of the Exige S has changed little, though a pair of newly available packages up the ante of comfort and style. The Premium Package adds leather trim on the door panels, steering wheel and handbrake, among other places, and also brings more sound insulation.Exige S models sold in the U.S. feature a full roll cage, racing seats and harness as well as an electrical cut-off switch.

Lotus Exige S is fitted with the optional Race Pack - which includes two-piece cross-drilled discs with four pistons brakes on each wheel - and were great around town. Power-on oversteer is effortless and should you find yourself in danger, the brakes are more than ready to save your reckless behind. Using 350mm front and 332mm rear discs clamped by four-pot calipers all round, the pedal is firm and fade is nonexistent.

The Lotus Exige S is not for the regular driver. This is a road-going race car, which has somehow been approved for road use. If you’re not an experienced driver and want to buy this car, take our recommendation to participate in as many advanced driving courses you can afford.
