Aston Martin DB9 2014.

Aston Martin DB9 2014.

The Aston Martin DB9 is offered in 2+2 coupe and convertible body styles. For the previous model year, the DB9 received a thorough update that includes freshened styling, a slightly revised interior and a more powerful motor.

Its gorgeous exterior form aside, the interior's tightly fitted leather and clean wood or carbon fiber trim feel current, too. An LCD touchscreen sits front and center, and the crystal-tipped key/fob is a unique feature that rises above the gimmick. The details are simple and restrained, the total effect one of sophistication.

All DB9s are powered by a 6.0-liter V12 that produces 470 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic with paddle shifters is the only transmission available, and is located at the rear transaxle for better weight distribution.

The Aston Martin DB9 is simply sumptuous, with soft leather, alloy trim and other high-quality materials covering nearly every surface. The tasteful dashboard layout hasn't changed much since the car's introduction, although the climate and entertainment system controls were recently redesigned for greater ease of use. A wide variety of different leather, wood and carbon fiber options can be specified, and color choices are also nearly infinite. There's plenty of room for the driver and passenger up front, but the rear seats are for extremely small children only.

The Aston Martin DB9 comes with a healthy options list and a vast selection of customizable color combinations. All DB9s come standard with 19-inch wheels, xenon headlamps, an abundance of leather interior trim, a Garmin-sourced navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity and a premium AM/FM/CD sound system with AUX and USB input jacks, heated front seats, front and rear parking sensors, satellite radio and an iPod interface. All Aston Martin DB9 models come standard with dual front, dual side and full-length side curtain airbags, electronic brakeforce distribution,Emergency braking assist,Remote anti-theft alarm system, Front integrated headrests, Tire pressure monitoring, traction and stability control systems.

Its long wheelbase and considerable weight means the car is never going to feel truly agile, but it is accurate, poised and phenomenally progressive should you turn off the electronics and breach the limits of the Aston's tyres. One positive attribute of Aston’s current lack of an overseeing parental authority is that an electric steering system likely to save you a couple of tanks of fuel over the life time of the car has yet to be foisted upon it, so you can still enjoy not only the precision, weighing and linearity of the original steering system but also its feel.
